Description:                       IQST MySQL Database Migration


Purpose of Work:            Migrate the existing IQST DB to university-hosted hardware.


Expected impact:             The obfuscated IQST website and related database will be unavailable for the duration of the migration

CPSC Printing/SMB Issues

Prior to Tuesday's System Upgrade & Patch Day, (old) and (new) were 2 physically separate servers, running different OS versions and using different authentication methods.

As of Tuesday, the old samba was decommissioned and we began forwarding it's name to the new server. This means that and are now the same server. This was done so that users with printers installed via would not need to reinstall them. However, since the authentication method is different, network mappings to samba now require your username be set to "CS\username" instead of simply "username".

CPSC 3rd Tuesday Patch Schedule - UPDATE

  • All Windows patches are complete.
  • The old samba server has been retired. If you are having issues with printing from your Windows machine or your Mac, please contact the help desk. The router has not been updated due to compatibility issues. We hope to have this resolved shortly.
  • Server NSE has not been rebuilt, more on that later.

CPSC 3rd Tuesday Patch Schedule - Dec. 17th, 2013

  • All windows servers will be rebooted so that patches an updates can take affect.
  • All PC Domain users should LOG OUT Monday and please REBOOT your PC Tuesday morning to ensure all patches have been applied.


  • The old samba server will be retired.  Users should not notice any changes.


  • The core router will be upgraded.  Users should notice only a brief network interruption.
