Telus customers who are trying to access the Department of Computer Science resources from their home computers will be unable to do so due to DNS (Domain Name Server) lookups failing.

Please consider using Campus IT's General VPN Service to temporarily mitigate this issue. More details are available here:

Please note that this ONLY affects Telus customers. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we look into this issue.

CPSC Printing/SMB Issues
Posted by Jennifer Federl on 19 December 2013 10:03 AM

Prior to Tuesday's System Upgrade & Patch Day, samba.cpsc.ucalgary.ca (old) and samba.cs.ucalgary.ca (new) were 2 physically separate servers, running different OS versions and using different authentication methods.

As of Tuesday, the old samba was decommissioned and we began forwarding it's name to the new server. This means that samba.cpsc.ucalgary.ca and samba.cs.ucalgary.ca are now the same server. This was done so that users with printers installed via samba.cpsc.ucalgary.ca would not need to reinstall them. However, since the authentication method is different, network mappings to samba now require your username be set to "CS\username" instead of simply "username".

If you require further assistance or clarification, please submit a ticket to the cpschelp@ucalgary.ca.
